lesson 4.1
Let us compare two accounts with the same deposit of 10,000 euros and the same entry accuracy of fifty per cent.
The first trader The first trader risks one per cent per trade, and the average profit equals two units of risk.
Over a hundred trades: fifty losses of 100 euros give minus 5,000 euros, fifty profits of 200 euros give plus 10,000 euros. The net result is plus 5,000 euros.
The second trader The second trader risks ten per cent per trade at a risk-to-reward ratio of one to one.
A run of ten consecutive losses — a statistically expected event at fifty per cent accuracy — is enough to wipe out the account, regardless of the quality of subsequent signals.
the first trader's result over a hundred trades at 1% risk per trade
consecutive losses are enough to wipe out the second trader's account at 10% risk
Conclusion: The same analysis with different risk management produces opposite results. Position size determines the outcome more strongly than forecast quality.
